JK Rowling just made the day of Potterheads all over the world with news about another 'Harry Potter' related event. The bestselling author herself announced that the "untold part" of Harry's life will be told in a play in London's West End next year, titled "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child".
According to E! News, the upcoming play will be seen on the London stage next summer.
The play, which will also include the story of Harry's parents James and Lily, is a collaboration of writer Jack Thorne, director John Tiffany and the famous writer herself.
She assured fans that it will be a "real treat" but is "not a prequel" to the seven books published about The Boy Who Lived.
What's certain, however, is that JK Rowling's "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" will be best experienced as a play.
"I am confident that when audiences see the play they will agree it was the only proper medium for the story #CursedChild," Rowling tweeted.
The announcement also landed on a "special" day since it coincided with the UK publishing of "Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone" 18 years ago!
JK Rowling's "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" isn't the only spinoff that fans should look forward to. The famed writer also uncovered the Dursley's back story in Pottermore, detailing the real reason for their animosity towards Harry's family.
Warner Brothers is also gearing up for the "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" trilogy which will hit theaters on Nov. 18, 2016. Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne will be taking on the role of Newt Scamander. "Inherent Vice" actress Katherine Waterston, on the other hand, landed the part of the female lead, Porpentina or Tina.
Although "Fantastic Beasts" also isn't considered a prequel for Harry's story, it will still fall in within the same world and will focus on Newt's journey to search and discover magical creatures.
JK Rowling penned the screenplay for the first movie.
