Varun Dhawan And Siddharth Malhotra As Vengeful Brothers In ‘Ram Lakhan’ Remake, Can These Two Pull Off The Action?

| By

Reports confirmed that Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra, two of today's most sought-after actors in Bollywood, are playing the role of brothers in the remake of the 1989 film "Ram Lakhan."

DNA India reported that Varun Dhawan will be reprising the role of Lakhan, originally portrayed by actor Anil Kapoor, while Siddharth Malhotra will be playing the role of Ram which was previously essayed by Jackie Shroff.

Jackie Shroff told DNA India that he personally wanted Siddharth Malhotra to play his classic role because "he thought he was perfect for the role."

Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra's upcoming movie "Ram Lakhan" tells the story of two brothers who become policemen after being raised to avenge the death of their father. It was first shown in 1989 and was directed by Subhash Ghai.

Anil Kapoor, the actor who played Lakhan in the original movie, thought "Ram Lakhan" is more of a business proposition than a creative output.

"I think remaking 'Ram Lakhan' is more of a business proposition that creative," he said in a separate report by DNA India. "But I think Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar will do their best."

This is reportedly both Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra's fourth film with Dharma production house. The two actors previously acted together in the 2012 hit movie "Student of the Year" with Alia Bhatt - as the actress' competing suitors.

Indian Express reported that fans are excited to see the two play as brothers in the movie, saying that both the actors are "dynamic and share a great bond with each other."

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan's recent movie "ABCD 2" now shown in theaters has reportedly making big bucks in the box-office. An Indian Express report said the movie, which has been running now one week since its release last June 19, has now crossed the Rs 100 cr mark, which is equivalent to more than US $21 million.

"ABCD 2" is a dance-themed movie and sequel to the 2013 film "ABCD."
