Jermaine Jackson Name Change to 'Jacksun'

Jermaine Jackson name change papers have been filed, after the brother of Michael Jackson wants to have a less famous name.

Jermaine Jackson wants to change his last name to "Jacksun." The legendary entertainer and former member of the R&B group The Jackson 5 reportedly filed a petition on Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to TMZ, citing "artistic reasons" with no additional information provided about the filing.

The filing doesn't elaborate, but Jackson's friend Steve Dennis, who was speaking on the singer's behalf, said it's not unheard of for artists to change their names. "Phonetically, it changes nothing," he said.

"It is something he has chosen to do, and it's fair to say that you cannot blame this one on the boogie, you've got to blame it on the sunshine," Dennis said, in a play on the Jackson 5 disco hit, "Blame it on the Boogie."

Jermaine Jackson, 57, has been touring with his brothers over the past year while promoting his book about Michael entitled, "You Are Not Alone."

Jermaine's request is pending a judge's approval and a hearing has been set for February 22.
