The "CSI" movie finale will be the last instalment of the long-running CBS show after the network announced its cancellation last May.
Thankfully, the iconic series won't be leaving their fans high and dry after 15 seasons. The last film will reportedly be a reunion of sorts with former cast members coming back to give fans a proper farewell.
According to the Daily Mail, CBS will be bringing back original stars William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) to work on a final case together.
The season 15 finale had Nick Stokes (George Eads) leaving his post in the Las Vegas Crime Lab to become the department chief in San Diego. He was the last original cast member to exit the show.
TV Line's Ask Ausiello also reported that the film will have a "significant time jump".
"[We're] talking roughly six months. I'm also hearing there's a pivotal death," the report revealed. The "pivotal death" is still a mystery at this point.
The "CSI" movie finale will reportedly air on Sept. 27.
While the original "Crime Scene Investigation" series is coming to an end after 15 years, its most recent spinoff is getting one more season on CBS.
"CSI: Cyber" will be returning for a second season with Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette as the lead character. It will also be gaining at least one actor from "CSI Las Vegas".
Ted Danson, who plays the most recent department chief D.B. Russell, will reportedly be joining the spinoff. It's still unclear, however, if he will be taking on the post that Peter MacNicol left behind as the cyber crime department's head.
Fans are hoping that "CSI:Cyber" will keep the "CSI Effect" burning even after "CSI Las Vegas" takes its final bow on TV later this year.
