This week has been a Jackson family invasion! Janet Jackson released her first song after a long hiatus while acapella group Pentatonix debuted their "Evolution Of Michael Jackson" video.
The five-member group took their followers on a five-minute journey of the King of Pop's music, highlighting their own skills in the process.
Billboard reported that the video shot up the Trending 140 chart last Monday, with Janet Jackson's "No Sleeep" taking the top spot. According to the article, Pentatonix included 12 of the popstar's 13 number one hits and three of his Jackson 5 songs.
Following their other music evolution videos, "The Sing Off" champion's main vocalists gave their own rendition of the iconic singer's most popular songs such as "Man In The Mirror", "Thriller", "Bad", "You Are Not Alone", "Smooth Criminal" and other hits.
The only girl, Kristie Maldonado, took on the higher-pitched Jackson 5 classics. But that doesn't mean Mitch Degrassi and Scott Hoying can't handle Michael Jackson's high notes either. On the other hand, beatboxer Kevin Olsula pleasantly surprised fans with his sultry version of "The Way You Make Me Feel" as bass Avi Kaplan showcased his deep voice with "Dirty Diana".
According to LA Times, Pentatonix' "Evolution Of Michael Jackson" is a fitting homage for the legendary singer's sixth death anniversary this coming Thursday.
Aside from reminding fans of their amazing talent, the acapella group also announced the upcoming release of their new studio album, which will be made up of original music. They will also be touring with Kelly Clarkson this summer.
You can also check out the group's "Evolution of Music" and "Evolution of Beyonce" videos which earned the group about 100 million views combined.
Meanwhile, Scott Hoying and Mitch Degrassi continued the tradition in their own vlog channel "Superfruit". They were able to do medleys for Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift's "1989" album.
