“Hannibal” season 3 will be the last people will see Dr. Lecter and Will Graham in NBC after the network announced its cancellation last night.
This bad news was something no one saw as the horror TV series based on the characters of Thomas Harris novel has been receiving good reviews from different entertainment sites.
The cancellation irked many fans for sure. However, another thing the axing sparked is the passion of its fans.
In the wake of “Hannibal” cancellation, celebrity and non-celebrity fans made their presence felt by campaigning for a renewal of the show by different networks. One of them is comedian Patton Oswalt who called on Netflix to renew the horror series starring Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy.
"Temp Twitter break break: SC, please take down the Confederate flag; @AlbertBrooks, do @marcmaron's podcast; @netflix, renew Hannibal. Thx!"
Series creator Bryan Fuller also called on fans to tweet #SaveHannibal and get the attention of other networks.
“Hannibal” season 3 is taking the “Red Dragon” route with famous villain Francis Dolarhyde to be introduced by the second of the show. The current season is not yet done but Fuller already has plans for a season 4 and is hoping he can get them into reality.
“My idea for Season 4 was perhaps one of the coolest yet,” he tells TVLine shortly after “Hannibal” got cancelled. “So I would love to do it in some capacity.”
Aside from Save Hannibal campaign on Twitter, a petition in Change.org has also been launched. Fans can help save the show by clicking here.
