As expected, E.L. James’ “Grey,” which was reportedly published on Christian Grey’s birthday, is doing very well.
Over 1.1. million copies of “Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian” was sold in just four days since its release last Thursday, according to the NY Daily News.
"This is an astonishing number of books to sell over a weekend and speaks to the engagement and passion readers have for the 'Fifty Shades' books," Anne Messitte, publisher of Vintage Anchor, said in a statement.
“Christian’s side of the story is proving to be irresistible.”
To meet the demand of Christian Grey’s devoted audience, the publisher is going into additional print runs of “Grey,” ultimately bringing the total number of copies of the erotic novel in print to 2.1 million copies, according to the LA Times.
James has reportedly been promoting the book herself, with an appearance at a book signing in New York at Barnes & Nobles. Although, it seems that the author doesn’t seem to need promoting to get her books to sell.
James’ series, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Fifty Shades Darker,” “Fifty Shades Freed” and “Grey,” has reportedly sold more than 125 million copies worldwide.
“This book is dedicated to those readers who asked…and asked…and asked…and asked for this,” the novelist wrote in a statement on her blog when she first announced her latest book.
“Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place. Writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”
