While not much has been revealed about the upcoming US version of "Godzilla 2" movie, new reports suggest that original cast member Aaron Taylor-Johnson is returning for the sequel.
Together with Johnson, highly acclaimed director Gareth Edwards, who earned great reviews from his Kaiju-themed movie version, is also going to reprise his role in the directorial seat.
But before he could move forward with "Godzilla 2," he reportedly must bring the first "Star Wars" spinoff movie to the big screen.
Talking to Cinema Blend, "Godzilla" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson candidly shared his knowledge of the movie.
"Our director, Gareth Edwards, is off shooting a 'Star Wars' movie now, so I think, you know, and he was a huge influence on the franchise," the 25-year-old English star who recently played Quicksilver in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" explained.
"So I think they're waiting on Gareth, and then when Gareth gets around, they will all jump in a room, brainstorm, and do their thing. And I don't know if I'd be a part of it, if it would be set somewhere else, if it's going to be in the future. ... It's just kind of, it's just so broad."
And while the storyline isn't clear yet, "Godzilla 2" is confirmed to introduce three monsters namely, Rodan, Ghidora and Mothra to joing the famous kaiju.
"Let them fight," the voice over said in the video teaser released at 2014 San Diego Comic-con showing the three monsters who are supposed to appear in the sequel.
However, with Rodan, Mothra and Ghidora on board, fans can't help but ask where Mechagodzilla is?
"What no Mechagodzilla monster in the sequel?" A fan tweeted.
And while Legenday failed to show Mechagodzilla from the convention, there are rumblings claiming that the giant studio company is just saving the big announcement for a later date.
Furthermore, Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull released a statement claiming that while Gareth Edwards is busy with his "Star Wars" movie, "Godzilla 2" is still very much right on track.
"Gareth's film making talent makes him one of his generation's most creative and visionary directors," he explained.
"The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment? We have a great plan in store for 'Godzilla' fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth's imprint on the 'Star Wars' universe."
