With famous popstar Lady Gaga part of the cast of "American Horror Story: Hotel", fans would expect her to be showing her best talent in the show - singing. However, showrunner Ryan Murphy won't be asking Mother Monster break out into a song and dance number this season.
"People, keep saying to me, 'What numbers are they singing, what numbers are they singing,' and I say there will be no numbers," the show creator told Deadline in an interview.
He also mentioned that Gaga was very much interested in showing off her acting skills for the show.
"The interesting thing is we cast a lot of singers this season but I like that singers, for the most part, are always great actors because they know how to sell a story through song, through a scene," he continued. "I'm excited about that and I think that's why Gaga was excited about it; it's not something that she's ever done before. It's a pure acting part."
He also added, "I think people expect that she's going to be sitting in a bar in a white silk gown sort of singing songs - she is not."
He also revealed that "American Horror Story: Hotel" was a theme that he really wanted to do.
"The upcoming season that we're doing is much more horror-based; it's much more dark," he shared. "It's about a theme and an idea that's very close to my heart that I've always wanted to do that's a little bloodier and grislier I think than anything that we've done before; it's straight horror this year."
Lady Gaga will be joined by Sarah Paulson, Matt Bomer, Max Greenfield, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Denis O'Hare and more.
Jessica Lange won't be returning in this season of the horror anthology but she will reportedly be working with Murphy for a different project. Emma Roberts, on the other hand, will be joining Murphy's newest horror-comedy anthology series, "Scream Queens," on Fox.
Aside from "American Horror Story:Hotel" and "Scream Queens", Murphy is also working on "American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson" which will star John Travolta and Cuba Gooding, Jr.
