George Clooney's tequila brand has released a new advertisement that used vintage and lo-fi video editing that is reminiscent of the countryside past. If this is the actor's way to ramp up the loss from his futuristic Disney film "Tomorrowland," it is definitely working.
Called the "House of Friends" campaign, the new ad for George Clooney's tequila brand Casamigos featured a group of friends having fun in what seemed to be a campsite by the lakeside with guitar music and tequila shots on the background. The video looked as if it was taken from the past with its lo-fi and vintage editing style.
Advertising news website AdWeek said the ad is "the first amongst a series of incredibly candid scenes from a camping trip with old friends and new friends."
"Just like the tequila, our content is 'brought to you by those who drink it,'" George Clooney's tequila brand co-founder Rande Gerber told AdWeek. "We don't really see this as a campaign. It's just a culture of our company and the people who love Casamigos."
Casamigos was founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman who saw the birth of the tequila brand from their love of the drink and their tequila-filled nights.
"Our idea was to make the best-tasting, smoothest tequila whose taste didn't have to be covered up with salt or lime. So we did," the official website of George Clooney's tequila said. "The tequila was made just for us."
Casamigos is an ultra premium tequila made from fine, hand-selected 100 percent Blue Weber agaves, grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, the website added.
George Clooney's Mexico road trip
In support of the latest campaign for George Clooney's tequila brand, the founders reportedly took on a "boys-only motorcycle trip" to the home of the Casamigo drink distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.
Hello Magazine reported Casamigos founders Mike Meldman, George Clooney and Rande Gerber started their journey in Mexico up to Califonia, incorporating three of the actor's favorite things: motorcycles, Mexico and tequila.
"From the moment I met [Amal] until now, spending the rest of my life with her has been the thing that brings me the most joy," George Clooney told Hello Magazine when asked of the most important thing in his life. "I didn't think I was ever going to have that so it's extra special."
