Failing to reach the playoffs is painful for any basketball player. However, none would be more painful than a Finals loss. There is another pain worse than that. Losing in the finals four times. Lebron James and Cleveland Cavaliers bowed to Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the finals, in their own home. Although King James poured everything he has, they still failed against the Stephen Curry-led Warriors.
It is almost a week now since Cleveland Cavaliers lost and it seems it will take a little longer before Lebron James get to move on from that painful defeat. In an interview with Bleacher Report for their Uninterrupted segment, the four-time NBA MVP said he is "not happy" and still "bummed" out by the result despite the fact this just the first time the core of the squad came in together. He also hopes he was an inspiration to the Cleveland community.
"Hopefully I was an inspiration, being back to you guys for this first year. Hopefully I can continue that in the near future. And I just thank you guys - I thank the fans, I thank everybody for the support that y'all gave us all year, the support that you gave me by welcoming me back. And hopefully I made you guys proud in Year 1," Lebron said in a video message held while he was having a hair cut. Lebron also hinted that he won't leave the team next season like what his haters are saying.
"Like I said, I'm not satisfied, I'm not happy with the way things turned out. I'm bummed about it for sure. But hopefully I can put our team in position once again to try to compete for a championship next year and year-in and year-out. That's my goal, and my inspiration hasn't changed. So I appreciate everything. I thank you guys, I love you guys and I'll see y'all soon."
