Plane Hits SUV During Landing, Watch Terrifying Video

| By

A plane hit an SUV driving near the runway in a Dallas-area airport as the plane was about to land, and the wife of the pilot shot the video of the terrifying accident.

Just four weeks away from getting his pilot's license, William Davis had asked his wife, Kandy, to take a video of his first solo flight in a small airplane, according to the WFAA.

Davis was trying to land at the Northwest Regional Airport in Roanoke on Saturday when he clipped an SUV that was driving adjacent to the runway. Inside the SUV was a couple, Heather and Frank Laudo, who were on their way to lunch.

Everyone survived the incident, though the Laudos sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Heather Laudo immediately called 911 to get help.

"I said, 'We've just been hit by an airplane,' and she said, 'I'm sorry, you'll have to say that again. I thought you said you'd just been hit by an airplane.' I said, 'Yes, we were just hit by an airplane! Please come now!'"

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the collision.

However, after assessing the damage, airport manager Glen Hyde asked Laudos "Why did you pull out in front of an airplane?"

"We didn't pull out in front of an airplane," Heather Laudo can be heard saying in the video, while Kandy Davis insists, "Yes, you did."

The airport has attempted to purchase the property surrounding the road in order to enforce safety, WFAA reports, but their offers have been refused. Nevertheless, Hyde says they will be making concerted efforts to make the situation safer.
