Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun asked his followers on Weibo about their opinions on upcoming Xiaomi phones without a charger bundlle on Weibo, GSM Arena reported.
"To protect the environment, we want to try this little experiment with smart devices. What do you think," he wrote.
"Most devices ship with standard chargers, and people have a bunch of them lying around in their table drawers," Lei said on his page, Tuesday evening. (via IB Times)
He continued that most people have few chargers 'lying around', and purchasing another device bundled with a charger would just be an addition to these chargers, but for those who demand chargers, Xiaomi would offer one for 9.9 yuan ($1.6), he added.
However, CEO Lei Jun might have missed an important point about Quick Charge 2.0 that currently supported by most Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets that requires a special USB charger.
Though the Chinese tech giant's concern was clearly stated that Xiaomi's move on the possibility of eliminating a charger on upcoming Xiaomi devices is for environmental issues, many of CEO Lei Jun have opposed as they believe that this is just an excuse for Xiaomi to 'cut costs and improve profit margins,' UberGizmo reported.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi is due to launch a new device later this month confirmed by CEO Lei Jun in a previous Weibo post.
