Have you ever been on a taxi ride where the music played on the radio is not your type, making you want to change it but couldn't? In Singapore, eco-friendly taxis have reportedly begun hitting the roads, and they are not just energy-efficient, they also let passengers control entertainment and air-conditioning while inside.
"If you like it more hot and I like it more cold... we can change that," TUM Create research associate Felix Roemer said in a report by CNN.
The creators TUM Create reportedly collaborated with Nanyang Technological University and Germany's Technische Universitat München to get these Singapore eco-friendly taxis on the roads of the small country in Southeast Asia.
The CNN report also said that the Singapore eco-friendly taxis are incorporated through a smartphone app, which the passengers can utilize to hail a cab, control its air conditioning and pay.
The Singapore eco-friendly taxis have a cooling system located overhead, with the taxis' seats designed to draw moisture away from the passengers' bodies, "as people sit on them to help reduce on air conditioning."
The taxi reportedly can recharge its battery in a matter of 15 minutes and hit the road once again for a distance of up to 200 kilometers when fully charged.
These Singapore eco-friendly taxis join the list of the country's green efforts to maintain its position as one of the environment-friendly destinations on Earth. Among other eco-friendly structures include hotels and homes.
Few years ago, Singapore tested its first public housing units built to be eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable, another CNN report said.
These eco-friendly houses are in the Punggol Eco-Town, and are reportedly the first large-scale experiment to make public housing in the country more environment-friendly.
The report said the roofs of these houses are covered with plants, and the walls are painted while to help keep them cool and absorb sunlight.
