The most dangerous city in the U.S. is Flint, Michigan with a reported 2,337 violent crimes per 100,000 people, according to data compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
The FBI released their list of the top 25 most dangerous cities in America on Thursday and report reveals shows that overall crime is down across the United States and is currently at a five-year low. The FBI defines violent crime as murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
Detroit, Michigan was the second most dangerous city in the U.S. with a reported 2,137 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Saint Louis, Missouri came in third place with 1,857 violent crimes per 100,000 people, and 58.7 forcible rapes per 100,000 people.
Oakland, California was in fourth place with 1,683 violent crimes per 100,000 people, and 26.3 murders per 100,000 people over the last year.
Memphis, Tennessee was in fifth place with 1,584 violent crimes per 100,000 people, and 61 forcible rapes per 100,000 people.
