In a note to investors, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo seemed to have confirmed the earlier rumored iPhone 6S specs. Specifically, the upcoming Apple flagship smartphone will use the same 7,000 series aluminum used in the Apple Watch Sport and Force Touch.
A copy of the note was picked up by Japanese Apple fan blog Mac Otakara.
"The report claims that the next-generation iPhone could be wider and taller by about 0.15mm to account for the stronger 7,000 Series aluminum design, while the smartphone may also be about 0.2mm thicker due to the addition of Force Touch," Mac Rumors wrote.
As Franchise Herald reported last week, Apple supplier Catcher Technologies hinted that it may be working on 7,000 Series aluminum for Cupertino's next-gen flagship smartphones. Its adoption could potentially solve the "Bendgate" problems that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus encountered.
On the other hand, including Force Touch in the list of iPhone 6S specs would allow the device to distinguish between standard and firm touches, according to BGR. The new iPhone will also have slightly different color options from its predecessors.
"The gold iPhone 6S will be closer to yellow gold, while space gray will be darker than it is on the iPhone 6."
A rose gold option is allegedly being planned as well.
Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly getting ready for high demand for its yet-to-be-announced next-gen flagships. According to Barron's Tech Trader Daily, Pacific Crest analyst Andy Hargreaves said the arrival of the iPhone 6S "will turn out better than he thought."
"Although it is early and we lack visibility into the critical December quarter, our initial estimates of iPhone component orders in FQ4 suggest Apple is anticipating demand in the next iPhone cycle that is ahead of our current expectations."
However, Hargreaves did point out that the iPhone refresh might not have the same frenzy compared to its predecessors.
Iphone 6S specs and release date have yet to be confirmed by Apple.
