While Naughty Dog has been really secretive of the progress of the upcoming "The Last of Us" movie, there have been speculations claiming that the release date of the film adaptation to the hit post-apocalyptic game will most likely happen after "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" hit the shelves.
While there has been no official news about it, Slash Film reported that game creator Neil Druckmann is determined to set out "big changes" in the movie but keeping the storyline "faithful" to that of the game.
Furthermore, he admitted that while he's concentration remains to be at "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" he can't help but think about "The Last of Us" movie adaptation.
"When I'm in the office it's all Uncharted 4 all the time," he said. "When I should be sleeping, it's the [Last of Us] movie."
And while there's been no confirmed line up yet, rumors and speculations as to who will play the highly coveted role of Joel and Ellie have been rampant.
Without having to reveal anything, Druckmann teased fans that the draft is done and that actors have already been asked to read it.
"I just finished the second draft and we did a table read with a bunch of actors and that's where we're at."
Meanwhile, Digital Spy is confident that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams will most likely play the role of Ellie in "The Last of Us" movie, while Joel could either be played by Dylan McDermott, Hugh Jackaman or Gerard Butler.
"It was announced sort of prematurely almost in that I would love to play Ellie, they would love me to play Ellie," she said. "There's no film happening at this very second, so I cannot play Ellie right at this very minute. But when that comes around - if and when that comes around - I'll be here."
The 17-year-old English actress, who has been successfully playing the role of young Arya Stark in HBO's hit series, has confirmed that she had been in a meeting with the game creator Neil Druckmann along with its movie executives.
"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to," Williams confirmed in a report by Screen Rant. "They announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it."
"Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment. There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."
