Is Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice 2" movie finally pushing through?
While it has never been really confirmed or denied as well, rumblings about a sequel to Tim Burton's hit classic comedy-horror film have been rampant.
In a latest development, Seth Grahame-Smith who has been tapped to pen the script for "Beetlejuice 2" revealed some vital details about the movie's progress in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Although he did not specifically confirm it, the involvement of Michael Keaton to the sequel seemed to be imminent.
In addition, Grahame-Smith also revealed when the film will most likely start production.
"I've emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he's excited about the idea," Grahame-Smith said. "I know Tim is excited about the idea. Where it stands now is Tim's got to get ready to make ['Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children'], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we're waiting in the wings ready to go right after 'Peregrine's' wraps up. The ideal timeline is we're really getting into it toward the end of this year."
Furthermore, he also confirmed previous speculations that original star Winona Ryder is returning for "Beetlejuice 2."
"[Burton] was doing press for 'Big Eyes' right before the holiday, and was getting the 'Beetlejuice' question, and sort of tipped people off that Winona [Ryder] would be back. Which yes, she will be back," Grahame-Smith told EW. "I think we landed on the right idea, landed on the right approach. It's just now making sure that -- for me -- I don't want to shit my pants in front of the entire world making a sequel to one of my favorite movies."
In fact the 43-year-old star, who starred as Lydia Deetz in the original film already confirmed her involvement during a previous interview with HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri at the Sundance Film Festival.
Tim Burton earlier revealed that "Beetlejuice 2" movie already has a script, but he hinted that it's not going to be a sequel Yahoo! Movies reported.
"There's a script now, that I think is closer to what it could be and I'm excited about it," Burton revealed. "I wouldn't call it so much a sequel, but it'll have some characters [from the original 'Beetlejuice']. It's a bit too early to say but it's definitely something that's on my radar and something I'd love to do."
