Earlier "Outlander" season 2 casting news talked about the new characters Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will meet in their future endeavors in France.
However, they are not yet completely freed by the ghosts of the past. Black Jack (Tobias Menzies) may have died last season but even if the couple are already miles away from Scotland, they will still be reminded of the person who punished them for so many times.
According to an "Outlander" season 2 casting news by the Wrap, Laurence Dobiesz has been chosen to play Black Jack's younger brother Alex.
Interestingly, this actor looks like Tobias Menzies. Although he is related to the ruthless villain, Dobiesz's character will be completely the opposite.
The Wrap wrote on their "Outlander" season 2 casting news:
"Laurence Dobiesz has joined the cast of Starz's "Outlander" in the role of Alex Randall, TheWrap has learned. Dobiesz's character is the younger brother of Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), the main antagonist of our heroes Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe)."
The website went on to explain how different Alex Randall is to his brother.
"Despite the shared DNA and physical resemblance, Alex Randall possesses nothing of his older brother Black Jack's ruthless brutality. A curate and secretary for the Duke of Sandringham, Alex is described as gentle, loving, and kind."
Alex Randall is not the first "Outlander" season 2 casting that is related to previous/existing characters. A few weeks ago, Robert Cavanagh has been revealed as new addition in the Starz TV series and will play Jamie's cousin Jared Fraser.
Also part of the "Outlander" season 2 cast are Rosie Day who will play "Mary Hawkins, the daughter of a minor baronet and the niece of Silas Hawkins."
Claire is also set to get a competition for the love of Jamie as French actress Margaux Chatelier has been tapped to play "the Highlander's beautiful and charming former love Annalise de Marillac in Season 2, TVLine has learned exclusively."
