With father's day coming up soon, it's worth noting the famous TV dads who became iconic father figures in the small screen.
Perhaps the most iconic of them all is Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable who was played by Bill Cosby. Although Cosby is currently being accused of sexual harassment by the women he previously worked with, he was seen as a lovable dad in "The Cosby Show".
Another iconic father figure on TV with a spotty image in real life is Stephen Collins, who played Reverend Eric Camden in "Seventh Heaven". Rev. Camden was an ideal father to his large brood, forgiving them when they made mistakes and loving all of them unconditionally.
On the other hand, father-of-three Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) is seen as a wonderful father in "Modern Family" despite being a bit ditzy. He loves taking the time to have fun with his family and isn't scared to show his cheesy side either.
Coach Taylor from "Friday Night Lights" also showed his parenting skills, not just to his own kid but to the entire football team he coaches as well.
Other fatherly character that made an impression on TV is Jonathan Kent (John Sneider) from Smallville and Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) who did all they could to protect their children.
"Game Of Thrones" fan favorite Ned Stark may have left the show too early but he will forever be remembered as a noble father and proud character of the series.
