New 'Top Gear' Host Confirmed? Chris Evans Mocked By Former Hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May And Richard Hammond

| By

Despite previous claims that he had no intention of replacing axed host Jeremy Clarkson, it seems liked Chris Evans had a changed of heart as he teased his involvement with "Top Gear."

Apparently the famous car collector and enthusiast has confirmed a "secret film" for "Top Gear" despite previously claiming that rumors involving him with the car show is "absolute nonsense," Yahoo TV UK reported.

The Radio 2 presenter dropped the bomb on Channel 4's "Sunday Brunch" show.

"We are doing a secret Top Gear film on Tuesday," he told Tim Lovejoy.

"It still will be, because nobody knows where it's going to be but we're going to make one and see how it goes," Evans responded when Lovejoy claimed that the project is no longer a secret.

Adding, "We're making a Top Gear - we're doing a Top Gear sequence with an independent production company and we're going to see how it goes."

Meanwhile, the news reportedly came to former "Top Gear" host Jeremy Clarkson's attention. The veteran car show host seemed to have not liked the news that he decided to mock Chris Evan's involvement with "Top Gear."

"Next week, I'm doing a pilot Radio 2 breakfast show with an independent production company. We'll see how it goes," the host who was fired because of alleged assult on show producer Oisin Tymon posted on Twitter.

Together with Clarkson, his former co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond showed their disgust by posting the same Tweet mocking Chris Evans' statement.

"Next week I'm doing a pilot of The Two Show on Fridays with an independent production company. We'll see how it goes," Hammond posted.

May on the other hand said, "I'm working on a new TV idea, with an independent production company, called TFI Thursday. We'll see how it goes."

According to Daily Mirror, both May and Hammond refused to return to the show without Clakson despite the huge £4 million offer.

"Flattering though it is to be offered huge sums there'll be no going back," the source of the publication claimed. "It wouldn't feel right and their heart wouldn't be in it. They've always said they come as a team and that hasn't changed.

"They are all very excited at the prospect of having total editorial control over their new show, to make it and get it distributed. It would be groundbreaking and also incredible lucrative. They would stand to earn much, much more than they would with the BBC."
