Unfortunately there will no "Injustice 2" release date coming this year.
While there hasn't been any confirmation yet, Attack of the Fanboy reported that NetherRealm will most likely launch the new game together with Warner Bros. "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie on March 25, 2016.
"There is no doubt that a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us would sell well regardless of when it releases, but with there certainly being no tie-in game to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would make absolute sense to release Injustice 2 next March or April," the publication stated.
"This would put it out either right before or right after in a slot that NetherRealm loves, with Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Mortal Kombat X all releasing in the same time period."
Meanwhile, there's news that NetherRealm is already teasing fans of "Injustice 2" release date. According to iDigital Times president Ed Boon posted a teaser on Twitter.
"@Official_AIAS @noobde :( Hope you can make it next year! EB: Absolutely! ......unless we ship a game in April 2016 ;)," he tweeted.
While he did not mention specifically what game he's referring to, it's most likely that he is talking about "Injustice 2" given that "Mortal Kombat X" already has a release date.
