Fans React To Benedict Cumberbatch’s Baby Boy! ‘Even A Cumberbaby Arrived Before Sherlock Series 4’

| By

The birth of Benedict Cumberbatch's baby boy was announced last Saturday, a few days after he was named a CBE during the Queen's Birthday Honours.

"Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son," a representative told US Weekly. "We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks."

The wonderful news was met with delight by excited fans. Aside from giving name suggestions for the little tot, avid followers also congratulated and welcomed the precious child to the world, according to Metro.

"So excited to hear the news of the new #Cumberbaby! Congrats to Benedict and Sophie on your new son," one fan wrote on Twitter.

"So happy for Benedict, Sophie & his family on the birth of his baby boy! #CumberBaby #CBE I wish them all the best!" another tweeted.

Others threw out some hilarious quips about the whirlwind arrival of Benedict Cumberbatch's baby boy compared to the long wait that fans have to endure for "Sherlock" season 4.

"EVEN A #CUMBERBABY ARRIVED BEFORE SHERLOCK SERIES 4," a frustrated "Sherlock" fan posted on the microblogging site.

Another couldn't help but comment on the Cumberbatch-Martin Freeman ship that resulted from the famous BBC show.

"I demand a DNA test just to make sure Martin Freeman is not one of the parents. #Cumberbaby #JustInCase," a tweet read.

On the other hand, another fan was just so proud of "The Imitation Game" star becoming a dad at 38 years old.

"*Sniff* Our little Benedict is growing up, fandom. So proud... #Cumberbaby," the fan posted.

Meanwhile, it seems that the proud father couldn't stay a bit longer with his new family. Benedict Cumberbatch's baby boy was born on Saturday but the busy actor already had to go back to work right away. He will be starring as Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Barbican in London.

The play will be running from August to October.
