While director Colin Trevorrow and the rest of the cast of "Jurassic World" are enjoying the $162 million opening weekend in the box office, a sequel is reportedly already in talks.
"'Jurassic World' is leaving a major footprint on the domestic box office," Variety reported. "According to early estimates, the "Jurassic Park" sequel is on track for $70 million on Friday and a massive opening weekend of $162 million."
Surely the highly praised reviews coming from it's world premiere helped a lot in "Jurassic World's" big success.
The talks of a sequel however started way back the film was released in cinemas.
In an interview with Empire, Trevorrow already hinted the said sequel.
"We definitely talked about [sequels] a lot," the director admitted. "We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story."
Jurassic World Org added that the follow up to "Jurassic World" movie is definitely happening, but the development is still left at "blue sky."
Together with Chris Pratt, the dinosaurs led by the new hydbrid "Indominus Rex" dominated the film.
Indominus Rex is officially described as the "most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World." It's roar could reach to 140-160db, "the same as 747 taking off and landing," reaching a speed of 50km/h.
The official plot summary to "Jurassic World" reads below:
"22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. This new park is owned by the Patel Corporation. Owen, a member of Jurassic World's on-site staff, conducts behavioural research on the Velociraptors. After many years, Jurassic World's attendance rates begin to decline and a new attraction, created to re-spark visitor interest, gravely backfires."
And while Colin Treverrow was the one who revealed the news about the upcoming sequel, he is reportedly not going to return to direct the film anymore.
"Jurassic Park is like Star Wars," Trevorrow said according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Different directors can give a different taste to each movie."
"I would be involved in some way, but not as director," he said of his involvement for the upcoming films.
"Jurassic World" movie's world premiere was held in Paris last weekend.
Chris Pratt leads "Jurassic World" cast members with Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, BD Wong and Irrfan Khan.
They are joined by Vincent D'Onofrio, Judy Greer, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Tee, Andy Buckley, James DuMont, Courtney James Clark, Omar Sy and Katie McGrath.
"Jurassic World" sequel has no release date yet.
