After missing in the "Hannibal" season 3 premiere, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) finally surfaced. The FBI profiler survived the horrific bloodbath in the finale and now, he is going after Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) overseas.
Will had a hard time catching Lecter in the United States, not even when he was in tip top condition. In the third season, the task of capturing the cannibalistic doctor could be twice as hard.
Talking to Variety, Hugh Dancy said the next "Hannibal" season 3 episodes will see Will Graham still not 100% mentally stable.
"Not great... in the sense that we pick up exactly where we left off at the end of season two, so he's lying on the kitchen floor bleeding out, pretty much," Dancy said when asked about Graham's mental and emotional state in the next "Hannibal" season 3 episodes.
"Jumping on from that, we move through this quite quickly and then actually later in the season we'll circle back to it, but there's an eight month gap before he then takes off after Hannibal, and my feeling was that he goes after Hannibal knowing that he has to do it, but almost choosing not to worry why he's going or what he wants to find when he gets there and what he wants to do. He's in a much clearer mental state."
As seen in the latest "Hannibal" season 3 episode called "Primavera", Graham is still hallucinating. Abigail Hobbs appeared several times with the nemesis of Dr. Lecter. She even suggested that the psycho wanted them to live. Turned out, it is all in Will's mind. Abigail died during the night Lecter slit her throat and Will is just day dreaming, in this case, nightmare while awake.
Another factor why capturing Hannibal will be a difficult task for Will is the fact that he no longer has the assistance of Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and the rest of FBI.
"It's a challenge, but he'd already stepped so far outside of that world, albeit furtively in the last season as he drifted closer and closer into orbit with Hannibal, that I think being cut open, in a way, released something from him. He's now, in a Zen way, accepting the need to go on this quest without needing to know what he's going to find at the end."
The next "Hannibal" season 3 episode called "Secondo" will air on July 18.
