'Outlander' Season 2 Casting News: Claire Has Competition For Jamie's Attention?

| By

Earlier "Outlander" season 2 casting news revealed Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) will meet his cousin in France, something that make fans think the lead male character will somehow get a necessary ally in the new territory they will visit. As for Claire (Caitriona Balfe), it looks it will not be 100% fun for her in the new adventure she and his wife are about to take on.

In new "Outlander" season 2 casting news that surfaced, TV line reported Margaux Chatelier has been enlisted as the ex of Jamie. The entertainment website wrote:

"Is Claire about to get some competition for Jamie's affections? Outlander has tapped French actress Margaux Chatelier to play the Highlander's beautiful and charming former love Annalise de Marillac in Season 2, TVLine has learned exclusively."

TV Line's "Outlander" casting news is not just about a old romance about to be dug up. According to the report, Marc Duret has been especially selected for the role of Monsieur Joseph Duverney, a possible competitor for Jamie.

"Additionally, the Starz series has enlisted another French actor, Marc Duret, to fill an important role in the Frasers' new Parisian setting. (To maintain authenticity, the show has employed a French tutor to assist with language and pronunciation, as it did with Gaelic last season).

Duret - a vet of the Luc Besson films The Big Blue and La Femme Nikita, as well as the Tom Fontana-created drama Borgia -will portray Monsieur Joseph Duverney, the well-dressed, middle-aged Minister of Finance to Louis XV. Duverney and Jamie become competitors at chess."

Previous "Outlander" season 2 casting news confirmed Rosie Day will play as a child caught in the middle of tag-of-war for power between her elder who serve in the government. Stanley Weber and Robert Cavanagh also join the show and will respectively play as Le Comte St. Germain, a member of the French Court and Jared Fraser, Jamie's cousin and a strong Jacobite.
