The "iZombie" season 1 finale has aired and with what happened to its big bad Blaine DeBeers (David Anders), fans are thinking maybe the show needs to find a new major villain.
(Spoiler ahead)
Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley), the ex-boyfriend of zombified Liv Moore (Rose McIver), located where the brains of the missing teens are being brought, in the hideout of fiend zombie Blaine. Major was almost winning until Blaine arrived and shot him. It is almost over for Major but Liv came in the nick of time and out of nowhere injected a serum to turn Blaine back into a human.
Blaine returning into an ordinary person is just one of the many cliffhangers seen in "iZombie" season 1 finale. There is also the case of Major about to become a zombie too and Liv on a crossroad whether or not she will donate her zombie blood to her brother who was in front of the explosion in Blaine's hideout.
All these "iZombie" season 1 finale cliffhanger will be answered when the show returns for its second season. To fans who are wondering if Blaine will be out of the picture after what Liv to him, executive producer Rob Thomas assures he will still be around and no, he won't be any less evil compared to the first season. He will not become "Game of Thrones" character Jamie Lannister who became likable after showing evilness in earlier seasons.
"We're not going to make him cuddly next year," Thomas said in an interview with TV Line shortly after the "iZombie" season 1 finale.
"If you talked to me a few years ago, I would have thought, "Well, how in the world, after him spending Season 1 murdering homeless teenagers, could we ever believe him as anything but evil?" Then you watch Game of Thrones. Somehow, Jaime Lannister has become a sympathetic character even though he threw a young boy out a window in Episode 1. So it can be done, and maybe someday, we will attempt that. But for the immediate future, Blaine is bad."
Rob Thomas added Blaine will continue with his business like what he was doing before the events in "iZombie" season 1 finale.
"That's going to be part of the fun of Season 2. He will need to trick his clientele. Next season, he may be passing as zombie in order to maintain the fear, which I think we'll have fun with."
