After Google Maps Had Loch Ness Monster and Dragons As Public Transport Options, Users Want To Include Umbrella and Rainbow On The List?

| By

When Google Maps had the Loch Ness monster featured before, the users thought it was trying to be funny. But in a recent report, Google Maps is using dragons and royal carriages as public transport suggestions in London in an effort, not to be funnier, but to provide the most efficient public transport in the United Kingdom.

Mashable.com reported Monday the service now provides public transportation suggestions such as Google Maps' Loch Ness monster, dragons and royal carriages to those planning to calculate their estimated traveling time.

"If you're traveling between the Snowdon and Brecon Beacons mountain ranges in Wales, dragon is the most effective route - 32 minutes versus a three and half hour drive," the report said. "You still have to walk half a mile once you get to the station, though, because dragons refuse to drop you off at your exact destination."

Moreover, Google Maps is also suggesting riding on a royal carriage when traveling between Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, the report added. Google said it takes more than an hour when commuters opt to use carriages, which may not be amenable for those in a rush.

Last April 2014, reports said Google Maps has let users look for the Loch Ness monster and reportedly event sent a team of divers into the 800-foot-deep loch to capture images of the lake.

Has the Loch Ness monster been found by Google? This is because Google Maps also provided a 22-minute ride suggestion with the Loch Ness monster between Fort Augustus and Urquhart Caste in the highlands of Scotland. According to Mashable, this option is better than taking a 33-minue ride with a bus.

These suggestions were part of Google's effort to strengthen its mapping feature that presently include traveling by trains, trams, tubes, buses and boats around the United Kingdom.

"You'll now know when the next trip is departing, how many steps and how far your walk is between each station," Google said in its official blog. "You can also pick your preferred method of travel and whether you'd rather walk less or make fewer transfers, so you can compare and choose the best option for you."

Users want umbrellas added on the list

Because of Google's creative effort to include fictitious ways of transportation such as making Google Maps have the Loch Ness monster, some users found this as an opportunity to have more options and suggested umbrellas and rainbows.

"How about traveling around London by umbrella?" Jeff Moehlis of Goleta, California commented on a report by the Huffington Post.

Umbrellas were used by the iconic British character Mary Poppins when traveling from one place to another.

Yet user Dallas May even went further by suggesting, "When can we get directions in Ireland via Rainbow?"

May might have taken the suggestion from earlier reports that said double rainbows showed up across the sky when Ireland voted for gay marriage last month, becoming the first country to legalize gay marriage by public vote.
