Rihanna's presence with the NBA teams competing against each other during last week's Game 1 at the 2015 NBA Finals is being talked about not just because of the amount she paid for the ticket or because of the rumors of dating with LeBron James.
A recent report and analysis by basketball website Triangle Offense revealed that Rihanna's NBA team presence in certain games is giving the home teams more chances of winning the game.
Calling it "The Rihanna Effect," Triangle Offense explained in a detailed infographic how the singer's presence in some games held in certain states is increasing the winning percentage of the NBA home team from 60.6 percent without Rihanna to 66.7 percent with Rihanna in attendance
Among the locations analyzed were California, New York and Florida games.
For instance, the website said when the singer watched a game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Staples Center, the singer's most-visited arena, Clippers won the series.
"Since Rihanna started attending Clippers game in the '09-'10 season, the Clippers have averaged a not-so-great -1.42 point differential. The figure isn't much better with Rihanna at Staples, when the Clippers average -0.5 point differential," the website pointed out.
In 2009, Triangle Offense recalled New York Knicks winning a Manhattan game when Rihanna watched, with 30-year-old Larry Hughes scoring a win.
"When the Big 3 was still a thing, the Heat were top-5 in point differential (+5.51). That number deflated to +2.8 PPG when Rihanna attended, including a 23-point blowout over the Bucks. Minus the blowout, Miami was even worse, dropping to -2.25 points per Rihanna-influenced game," the website added.
The Brooklyn Nets also made a robust +2.67 with the singer there, the infographic said.
Among the Rihanna-affected NBA team players who got the boost from the singer's players were reportedly Dwight Howard and Kevin Durant.
If Rihanna is offering great help or intimidation in some games, NBA teams have to start inviting Rihanna in their games - perhaps even sit with the players on the benches?
