Following the huge success of movie adaptations of 80s and 90s popular cartoon shows including, "Transformers," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "G.I. Joe" comes "Thundecats" the movie?
While there hasn't been an official confirmation about the said project, Variety confirmed that award-winning video game director Jerry O'Flaherty is actually in negotiations to helm the "Thundercats" under Warner Bros.
"It feels like a natural thing for me to step into," O'Faherty said of the "Thundercats" project. "Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience."
However, details about the said project became really limited, but with the recent development it seems like "Thundercats" movie is indeed moving forward.
In a previous interview, "X-Men Days of Future Past" actor James McAvoy confessed that he's been lemming to play a role in the movie if it'll ever go in production.
"I would love to see a Thundercats movie but it's never going to happen," McAvoy admitted in an interview, which can be viewed here. "Lion-O is something great for any actor out there"
Meanwhile, "The Theory of Everything" star Eddie Redmayne, also expressed his interest to take on a role for a "Thundercats" movie.
Redmayne told Yahoo! News that he is interested in playing the role of either Bananaman or Snarf.
"Please, I'm desperate to do Bananaman," Redmayne confessed. "Bananaman is this great guy who eats a banana, and he becomes Bananaman. He's the one that I've always wanted to play, to the extent that Andrew Garfield - an old pal - was asked in an interview, 'If you could play any superhero other than Spider-Man, who would you play?' And he was thinking about it, and the interviewer was like, 'Bananaman?' And Andrew was like, 'No, Eddie's playing that.'"
"I'd like to play Snarf," he said.
McAvoy also mentioned about the fanmade "Thundercats" trailer featuring Hugh Jackman, Vin Diesel and Brad Pitt.
"There is a great trailer for Thundercats where they took Brad Pitt and made him Lion-O, Hugh Jackman as Tygra and Vin Diesel as Panthro," the 35-year-old actor said.
