Release Date For 'Tom Clancy's The Division' In Jeopardy Following Lead Writer's Exit From Ubisoft? Will The Game Suffer The Same Fate Of 'Destiny?'

Will "Tom Clancy's The Division" release date be affected with its lead writer's exit from Ubisoft?

The giant gaming company had previously confirmed that the highly anticipated game is slated for Q1 2016 release instead of the previously speculated 2015 launch.

However, new report from Movie Pilot claiming that Meghan Watt, a narrative designer at this studio for almost five years, who stepped up as the lead narrative writer for "Tom Clancy's The Division" has resigned from the company.

While there is no direct link to "Destiny," the publication could not help but compare the situation, that unfortunately did not end well with the said game.

"Now, I don't wish to create a sense of foreboding in this comparison, but a similar situation occurred last year with a game that 'The Division' has often been compared with," the publication said.

"Joe Staten, the lead writer for 'Destiny,' left Activision during the late stages of the game's development cycle. There are numerous stories about the development process of Destiny being fraught with revisions and lack of cohesion. There was a clear dichotomy of ideas within Activision concerning what Destiny should have been."

However, the comparison did not mean that Ubisoft's "Tom Clancy's The Division" would suffer the same fate of Activision's "Destiny," but it should be noted that there is still chance that "her [writer Meghan Watt] absence will upset the balance of the project."

And while the said situation could not really affect the game's release date, DSO Gaming, claimed that Ubisoft is actually going to introduce "Tom Clancy's The Division" together with other games during E3 2015 on June 16-18.

"All of us at Massive, Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment and Ubisoft Annecy want to ensure the game not only meets our high expectations but also those of our fans and players alike," the official statement of Ubisoft said. "We are proud of what we have achieved so far and can't wait to show you more next month at E3!"

DSO Gaming added that Ubisoft is working with three studios to polish the game. The studios include, Ubisoft Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Massive Entertainment, and Red Storm and Reflections.

Massive Entertainment managing director David Polfeldt is confident that the studios will give an "overall quality" to the game.

"We are very happy that Ubisoft Annecy is part of The Division's family," he said of the teamup.

"They are highly experienced and talented developers, adding much value to the project. Being able to work with other studios offers fantastic creative opportunities during development and, in the end, strongly benefits the overall quality of the game."
