Talks For Amir Khan Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr Fight To Officially Start On September In Las Vegas, Reports

| By

Negotiations regarding the Amir Khan vs Floyd Mayweather Jr fight will start two months from now, reports say.

Daily Star exclusively wrote the two camps are expected to start discussion for a mega bout by September 23 in Las Vegas.

"Amir Khan will enter talks today for a mega-money showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas on September 12," the newspaper wrote.

"Bolton's former world light-welterweight champion, 28, is due to have a conference call with adviser Al Haymon, who also works with boxing's pound-for- pound king Mayweather."

Talks of the Amir Khan vs Floyd Mayweather Jr fight surfaced a couple of weeks ago after the British boxer challenged the undefeated American fighter right after his unanimous win vs Chris Algieri.

Then a few days ago, he declared himself as the next Floyd Mayweather Jr whether the two of them slug it out in the boxing ring or not.

"I'm going to be the next Floyd Mayweather whether I fight him or not," Amir Khan said according to a report by Daily Mail.

"The pound-for-pound title means everything and I think fighting towards that is definitely the aim. All eyes will be on the welterweight division so it's about going for that now. If he retires without fighting me, I think then it's all about fighting for that pound-for-pound title that he would leave behind."

He also promises to be the first in line to own the welterweight division once Floyd Mayweather, now 39, hangs his boots.

"The welterweight division is the one that everyone talks about and there will still be hype when Mayweather leaves. People want to see who the next Mayweather's going to be, who the guy is that is going to take that position."

"For me now it's not the money or titles. It's more about fighting the big names in boxing, I swear it's not the money now," Khan said.
