A triumphant Paul George return is not what Indiana Pacers got this year. Before the end of eliminations, PG13 returned in the basketball court after almost one year of recovery period from a gruesome leg injury he sustained during scrimmage for the 2014 USA team.
He scored 13 points in 15 minutes of play in game vs Miami Heat. However, he re-injured his leg in their last assignment.
To fans asking when Paul George return will be for next season, looks like it will be sooner than expected as according to the small forward himself, he can now dunk on both legs.
In fact, he believes that if only they made it to the playoffs, he is ready to challenge Lebron James of Cleveland Cavaliers or Golden State Warriors who are now in the NBA finals.
"I'm dunking on both legs, and if we were in the finals tonight, I'd be ready for LeBron," George joked before the first pitch at the Caroline Symmes Celebrity Softball Challenge. "I guess I should say I'd be ready for the (Golden State) Warriors."
Paul George was diagnosed with calf strain and doctors said it was nothing serious. Before he went down, Indiana Pacers were just one game away from qualifying for the playoffs but then they lost their last game.
In previous interviews, the 24-year old out of Fresno State said he feared for the worse after his latest injury.
"It scared me a lot because I felt the pop and I heard the pop. I knew that was not good," George said adding that he though he will not be able to help his team had they made it to the playoffs. "I was done. It would have been at least a four- or five-week thing."
When Indiana Pacers and Paul George return for the 2015-16 season, expect to see more of the 6'9 2X NBA All-Star member in power forward position. Pacers GM Larry Bird himself said playing small ball will force them to put George in the 4th spot.
"David (West) is our starter, but when we go smaller we'd like to see Paul maybe play some '4' and you know everybody says, 'You'll have a problem on the defensive end,' well, I don't think so," Bird said. "He can guard about anybody, and then on the other end, it's a major plus for us."
