iPhone 6S Release Date On September 25? Leaked Email Calls Next-Gen Apple Flagship Device ‘New iPhone’; Specs To Include 12MP Camera, 2GB Of RAM?

| By

Some of the latest Android offerings from Samsung, Sony, HTC and LG have already rolled out. Apple is now expected to launch its own next-gen flagship device, dubbed the iPhone 6S, in the coming months.

The latest rumors suggest the Cupertino tech giant may stick to its traditional release date schedule.

Mobile News picked up a leaked email from Vodafone which details iPhone 6S release date details. In the said email, the operator outlined pre-launch information, including that the operator will begin taking pre-orders for the device from September 18.

The email in question was not shown but allegedly, the next-gen Apple flagship drops the number and is simply called "new iPhone." This naming strategy has been adopted for the iPad which, as GSM Arena described, had "disappointing results."

Although the information mentioned above pertains to the UK, the website notes that "US release timeline for recent iPhones has always coincided with the dates for across the pond."

But how true can this iPhone 6S release date rumor be? Apart from its alleged source, a major UK carrier, the information itself lends credibility. The supposed September 25 release date is a Friday and as Pocket-lint pointed out, the iPhone has traditionally been launched on that day in that month.

"Apple has released its flagship iPhones in September for the last three models on 21, 20 and 19 September," Pocket-lint reported.

The leaked Vodafone email failed to mention a follow-up to the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus though.

As for specs, the "new iPhone" or iPhone 6S (however Apple might decide to call their new flagship smartphone) is rumored to get a camera upgrade. Citing a senior executive at HIS Technology, GSM Arena said the device could come with a 12MP camera. The RAM could also be bumped up to 2GB,according to Apple Insider.

We'll have more iPhone 6S release date and feature news and updates as they come along.
