The world's smallest dog could quite possibly be a 3.25 ounce Terrier from Poland who is only three months old.
It can't be determined yet if Meysi, a female Terrier, is in fact the world's smallest dog by Guinness Book of World Records because they require dogs to be at least one-year-old before being considered for a world record. However, veterinarians that have seen this small dog say they don't expect her to grow any bigger, according to ABC news.
According to the report, the smallest dog's owner, Anna Pohl, said she had to feed Meysi, who was just 1.5 ounces when she was born, with a syringe for the first few weeks of her life.
The world's smallest dog title has already two other competitiors. There is Beyonce, a Dachshund and Chihuahua mix, who weighs just four ounces, and Milly, a Chihuahua from Puerto Rico, stands just three inches tall. Meysi, Beyonce, and Milly will all have to wait until they turn 1-years-old before they can be considered for the Guinness Book of World Records.
The current world's smallest dog is a female Chihuahua named Boo Boo from Kentucky who is the smallest living dog in terms of height at 4 inches tall, and Heaven Sent Brandy, a female Chihuahua from Florida who is the smallest living dog for length at 6 inches "from the nose to the tip of the tail," according to the Guinness World Records website.
