While it's been three years since punk rock band, Green Day has released a new album, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed that they are now ready for a follow up.
It's also been speculated that together with the new album, a tour is also cooking up.
Following their Hall of Fame induction, the American punk rock band trio formed in 1986 is said to be releasing a new album as a token of appreciation to their fans who have supported them along the way.
Armstrong told Billboard that there are actually "few songs" in the line up for their new album prior to their induction.
"There's definitely a great spirit going on," Armstrong said of their new album. "We've always been pretty charged up. Before we found any of this out, I had already written a few songs and everybody was really excited by them. And then we heard about the Hall of Fame, and we were just blown away."
And while Green Day has been "blown away" by the prestigious recognition, they are not speeding up their follow up album as they wanted to make sure that it will be better than their 2012 trilogy release, "Uno," "Dos" and "Tres."
"Yeah, I mean, we're going to take our time," he said. "We're not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we're honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album."
Finally, Armstrong shared the secret to their success. Green Day's frontman said that being in a group composed of people whom he shared his highschool with is definitely something to be considered in their band's success.
"Well, even people that would be our contemporaries, a lot of these guys would be in their fifties already. But we started young. This is my high school band, and we just kept going. So there's been a lot of life within the time period that we've been around. We're really fortunate in that way."
