"The Bachelor" season 9 Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff's split reportedly came as a big surprise to a couple of people.
Although Hollywood Life reported that Prince Farming's stint on "Dancing With The Stars" strained their romance, the Fox show's host was still "shocked" at the couple's decision to end their relationship.
"I had no idea because I follow it just like everybody else does on Twitter," Erin Andrews reportedly told E! News after the sad news broke. "I think [Whitney] posted for the six-month anniversary of the proposal so this was a shock to me."
She added that the 29-year-old fertility nurse "was around our studio a lot on Mondays and Tuesdays" which made the breakup even more unbelievable.
"I was really sorry to hear this morning that Chris and Whitney had ended their engagement," "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison reportedly said on Hallmark Channel's "Home & Family". "He went on to do 'Dancing With the Stars' and moved back to Iowa, and I thought they had given it a go and were going back together but apparently not."
After Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff split up, they both chose to go back home to Iowa and Chicago respectively.
The 33-year-old farmer turned to his family for comfort after breaking things off with her fiancé of six months. After tweeting his thanks to fans for their support after the announcement, Soules went on to post several photos of himself with his dad and niece.

"Celebrating my niece's graduation with the greatest man I know," he captioned the shot with his father. He also managed to snap a photo with said niece, Hannah Wallace.
Meanwhile, Bischoff was welcomed home by a cute little girl in Chicago.
"Now this little gal knows how to make me smile! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your outpouring love, kindness and support! It means so much to me!" she captioned the video of the said little girl.
