Fox recently announced that "American Idol" season 15 will be the last year for the long-running audition show. Preparations for the finale season are already underway.
Will past judges join Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. next year?
Chairman and CEO of Fox Television Group Dana Walden reportedly told US Weekly that they would definitely welcome back the original three judges of the show - Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.
"We're having conversations with them about anything that you can imagine about what would be celebratory and what would feel nostalgic and all the things you might do to send the show off in a way that feels memorable," Walden revealed.
He also added, "I will tell you there's a lot of enthusiasm about coming back and paying tribute to a show that launched many many successful careers. I think there's going to be a lot of enthusiasm about former contestants and judges being a part of the show."
However, not all the past judges of the reality show are enthusiastic about coming back. Mariah Carey, who sat on the judges' table for a season recently slammed the program, calling it "boring" and "fake".
"Hell no! Absolutely not," she reportedly told Australia's "The Kyle And Jackie O Show" when asked if she'd show up for "American Idol" season 15. "That was the worst experience of my life."
"I'm not going to get into what it was, but let's just say I don't think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show," she continued, adding that pitting her against then co-judge Nicki Minaj "wasn't cool."
She continued, "It should have been about the contestants instead of about some nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness. I would never want to be involved with it again. But everybody else did like it."
The "Beautiful" singer also revealed that she had to "make up things to say about everybody."
It looks like Carey is certainly not coming back for any kind of reunion. Will other past judges (Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Steven Tyler) be more willing to join "American Idol" season 15?
