"Homeland" season 5 cast will still be lead by Claire Danes who portrays CIA case officer Carrie Mathison who also suffers from a bipolar disorder.
While the center of the show is still on her, the fifth season of the HBO political drama will be a lot different from the past four seasons. One thing that signals the change in the show is the arrival of a new love interest for the lead character.
Season four did not find Carrie a new love interest after losing Nicholas Brody in the third run. When the show returns this September, fans will welcome Carrie's new apple of the eye. According to a report by TV Line. "Inglorious Basterds" actor Alexander Fehling has been added to the growing list of "Homeland" season 5 cast.
The TV Line article wrote:
"When Homeland returns for Season 5 this fall, Carrie Mathison will have a new man on her arm: Alexander Fehling (Inglourious Basterds) will play Jonas Happich, a lawyer dating the former Islamabad station chief during her self-imposed exile in Berlin."
Fehling is not the only new addition in the "Homeland" season 5 cast. Also joining the chaotic world of foreign affairs are German actor Sebastian Koch, Miranda Otto, and Sarah Sokolovic. Koch, known for his role in "The Life of Others," will play German philanthropist and Carrie's boss.
"The Lord of the Rings" actress Otto will be Berlin Chief of Station and will work under Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) while Sokolovic's character is An American journalist based in Berlin.
While there are new additions in the "Homeland" season 5 cast, Rupert Friend, who plays queen, is still in the show.
