"Empire" season 2 release date is set on September 23, almost three months away. The wait might be long but it is not as painful as it looks for fans as Fox continue to shower them with good news.
In a recent spoiler revealed for the hit musical drama, TV Line reported "Magic Mike XXL" actor Adam Rodriguez has landed a recurring role.
What will be Rodriguez's role in "Empire"? The report said he will be someone who will woo Cookie, portrayed by Taraji P. Henson who was the first one to break the good news about "Empire" season 2 release date.
"Adam Rodriguez (The Night Shift, CSI: Miami) has joined Season 2 of Empire in a recurring role, and from the sounds of it, his character may be mixing up a cocktail that's equal parts business and pleasure for Empire Entertainment's matriarch," TV Line wrote.
"Rodriguez will play native New Yorker and former EMT Laz Delgado, who's described by producers as "a smooth-talking concert promoter with expert hustler skills... who takes an interest in Cookie." (Bracing for a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation joke in 5, 4, 3, 2...)"
The report did not specify though if Rodriguez will appear in the very first episode when "Empire" season 2 release date comes.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Henson said Cookie will go back to the days before she and her former husband Lucius Lyon (Terrence Howard) built Empire.
"She's getting back to what she did when she built the empire," said Henson. "She's been tucked away for 17 years. Now she's been out for some time so you get to see the Cookie that actually built Empire back in the day, starting from nothing."
Aside from Rodriguez, other additional cast members of "Empire" season 2 are Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, and Alicia Keys. Ne-yo will also act as song producer.
