'Metal Gear Solid' Movie Actively Gearing Up! Sony Pictures Entertainment Hires Highly Acclaimed British Writer To Pen The Script

Finally the highly anticipated movie adaptation to the hit "Metal Gear Solid" game is actively gearing up.

According to Deadline, the famous and sought after British screenwriter, Jay Basu has been tapped to pen the script of the movie adaptation.

"In-demand Brit writer Jay Basu has closed a deal with Sony Picturesto write the feature adaptation of fanboy favorite video game Metal Gear Solid, the publication reported. "The project is produced by Avi and Ari Arad and is being steered by production president Michael De Luca. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer) is attached to direct."

Basu, is a well known talent who has earned his fame by co-writing 2014's "Monsters: Dark Continent."

Sony Pictures Entertainment, who also owns the rights to other video games movie adaptations such as, Angry Birds, Heavy Rain and Rollercoaster Tycoon is determined to push through with the movie as the studio is now looking for a the actor to lead the film.

It was once reported that controversial game creator, Hideo Kojima, considered releasing "Metal Gear Solid" live action movie adaptation with "X-Men: Apocalypse" star Hugh Jackman as the lead star.

However, no deal was made as Sony Pictures Entertainment apparently wanted to hire a newcomer instead. And while Kojima is very much involved with "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" game, his involvement with the movie adaptation is not yet clear.

"Metal Gear Solid"' was first released in 1998 for PlayStation under the development of Konami and direction by Hideo Kojima. The game followed the story of Solid Snake, a retired operative who was again broght to the field due to a renegade terrorist called, Foxhound.

The action-adventure stealth game, sequel to the MSX2 versions, "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snak," immediately gained popularity with six million copies sold following its release.

While there's no news about the release date yet, it's game counterpart "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" will be launched in September, thus the movie is expected to follow suit.
