The Xbox One release date for "Gears of War 4" is expected to be announced at the highly anticipated E3 2015 convention happening on June 16-18.
VC Post reported that Black Tusk Studios will most likely make the announcement on the biggest electronics conference event of the year.
And while fans are worried following the exit of Hanno Lemke from the giant gaming studio, Xbox boss Phil Spencer assured fans of the future of the gaming franchise. With new GM Rod Ferguson, "Gears of War 4" is reportedly having "massive progress."
"The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in," Spencer told Game Spot . "The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. And [Rod Fergusson] and I have talked about this; I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons. It's hard to continue to manage the IP."
In addition, Spencer revealed that contrary to previous reports that "Gears of War 4" is going to be a reboot, the game will instead going to be just a sequel.
"I wouldn't call it a reboot, because I don't think the franchise necessarily needs that," he explained.
Adding, "I think we can make sure that we're investing in this thing for the next decade, which is how I want to think about it. The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in. I think the story and the setting and what they're going through in a Gears of War-the name of the game, it really meant something to what that game was about. We've got to get back to that. The feeling of those individuals."
And while "Gears of War 4" will be made available on next generation console Xbox One, Black Tusk Studios developer Jack Felling claimed that it will not be available for Xbox 360 consoles.
"No, sorry, it won't be available on the 360, but it will be available for the Xbox One," he answered a fan on Twitter.
