Twitter CEO Dick Costolo straightforwardly rejects rumors that the company is eyeing for a buyer despite revenue slump.
Costolo disproved all the circulating rumors that they are looking for companies that can acquire them. They intend to stay independent despite setbacks in their current earnings.
Everyone seems to be skeptical about a Twitter comeback. Costolo has been receiving staggering criticism across the globe, particularly at Wall Street, as Twitter's failing credit might be foreshadowing a forthcoming demise.
Re/Code's Code Conference host Kara Swisher boldly confronts Costolo about this, and directly asks him if he'll still be staying with the famous social network by the end of the year.
With mastery and confidence, Costolo matter-of-factly answered that he's not anxious about his tenure; he's simply focused on his work.
"Look I have to focus on my job, and what I've got ahead of me. I don't worry about like am I going to be working here on this date, or am I going to be working here on that date. I focus on my job."
Swisher quickly raised a follow-up question, and asked him if the board feels the same way about the issue. He answered:
"I don't FEEL that I'm in sync with my board. I KNOW I'm in sync with my board. The board and I communicate regularly. One of the things I do is probably over-communicating with them and we're totally in sync."
Moreover, Costolo said that Twitter's strategy remains the same: reader and user expansion through external reach and platforms. He said that people have faith on his approach, and Twitter will continue to execute it.
But, he also humbly admitted that there's a need to show that these plans can be translated into lucrative avenues for growth. People needs concrete results and proof. He has to show them the money.
