Following reports that the release date for George R.R. Martin's "Winds of Winter" novel will be delayed, new update claims otherwise.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively reported that "The bestselling author once again will not contribute a script to HBO's "Game of Thrones" as the production preps for next season. The Thrones author previously penned an episode for seasons 1-4, then opted out of writing for the current fifth season. "
The 66-year-old writer-producer told Entertainment Weekly in an earlier interview that he's looking into releasing "Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs.
"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he explained. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."
Martin also admitted that he "put it [Winds of Winter] aside for six months," instead of setting up a time table for its release date.
"I was so into it. I was pushing so hard that I was writing very well. I should have just gone on from there, because I was so into it and it was moving so fast then."
"But I didn't because I had to switch gears into the editing phase and then the book tour. The iron does cool off, for me especially."
Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin teased fans that while they are waiting for the official "Winds of Winter" release date announcement, "Game of Thrones" season 6 is already in the works.
"I met with David Benioff and Dan Weiss and Bryan Cogman," he confirmed to Access Hollywood . "And we had a long talk about some of the stuff that will be included in season 6, but we haven't started writing that one yet."
Martin also wrote in his blog that fans should not be worried that the TV show might spoil the upcoming novel, since "Winds of Winter" is typically different from HBO's "Game of Thrones."
"There have been differences between the novels and the television show since the first episode of season one. And for just as long, I have been talking about the butterfly effect. Small changes lead to larger changes lead to huge changes," he wrote in his blog.
"HBO is more than forty hours into the impossible and demanding task of adapting my lengthy (extremely) and complex (exceedingly) novels, with their layers of plots and subplots, their twists and contradictions and unreliable narrators, viewpoint shifts and ambiguities, and a cast of characters in the hundreds," he added.
Furthermore, George R.R. Martin announced that the he will be making the official announcement to "Winds of Winter" release date on his blog to avoid false reporting.
