If Oklahoma City Thunder announce they are looking for a Kevin Durant trade, expect other teams to flock the OKC office. But of course, the decision will still be on the one-time MVP who will now enter free agency next year.
The 2007 second overall draft pick sat out most of the games last season, one of the biggest reasons why OKC failed to make it to the playoffs.
The thing though is there might not have a Kevin Durant trade at all. Not because he is staying with Oklahoma City Thunder but because he is already eyeing another team. An NBA player, who was not named, told Basketball Insiders KD is going home. This means the Washington Wizards where he was born and grew up. The report reads:
""Players will consider going to the East, for sure," one Western Conference player told Basketball Insiders. "The East is down right now and the West is a dogfight. The seventh- or eighth-seeded team in the West could possibly make the Eastern Conference Finals with how things are now.""
"It wouldn't be a bad idea [to join an East team]," added another NBA player. "I'm pretty sure Kevin Durant is going to start it off and go home to [the Washington Wizards in] D.C."
Will there really be a Kevin Durant trade? KD's possible move to Washington Wizards has been long going on, even before the time he gets injured.
It is not just Wizards who are reportedly going after Kevin Durant, even the Golden State Warriors who are right now battling for their fourth championship, their first in 40 years. This report was first broken down by Michael Thompson of 710 ESPN.
"I also heard it on good authority from a team that plays in the Bay Area that they're going to go hard after Kevin Durant," Thompson said in his report.
