'Masters Of Sex' Season 3 Premiere And Spoiler News: 'Better Call Saul' Alum And 'Damages' Star Are Latest Addition In Showtime Drama

| By

"Masters of Sex" season 3 premiere is set on July 12.

The show's return is getting nearer but that is not reason enough for the Showtime drama to add more characters to the critically acclaimed period drama. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, two veteran television actors have been added to the cast as guest stars.

"The Showtime drama had booked Damages alum Tate Donovan and Better Call Saul actress Julie Ann Emery for a two episode guest spot," THR wrote in its "Masters of Sex" season 3 spoiler.

The entertainment website said Donovan will play scientist while Emery's character will be a patient, probably by lead characters Bill Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan).

"Donovan, who recently finished shooting Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea, will play Graham, a confident scientist whose relationship with Margaret Scully (Allison Janney) brings them to Masters and Johnson's clinic. Emery will play Jo, a woman who seeks help dealing with a unique relationship. In addition to her role as an embezzler's wife in AMC's Breaking Bad spin-off, she played pregnant widow Ida Thurman in FX's Fargo."

Previous reports say "Masters of Sex" season 3 premiere will have major time jump with Bill and Virginia's kids already grown up.

"Season 3 finds our main characters, Bill and Virginia, in the middle of a national spotlight brought about from the publicity they received in Season 2," Latino Review wrote of "Masters of Sex" season 3 premiere episode.

"Their work will soon be brought to the forefront, as it will have a profound impact on the pending sexual revolution, which will also usher in the counter-culture era. It will force a more revealing look at contemporary marriage at the time, which the three-way marriage of Bill, Virginia and Libby (Caitlin Fitzgerald) becomes a more involved plotline."

Aside from Sheen and Caplan, also set to reprise their roles are Caitlin Fitzgerald as Libby Masters, Jocko Sims as Robert Franklin, and Heléne Yorke as Jane Martin.
