For the second straight week, "Orphan Black" offered another pulsating episode.
This time, however, is probably something most followers of the show will not take lightly. While some of Ari Millen's clones were easily killed off in the last few "Orphan Black" season 3 episodes, the latest casualty is something writers and series creators had trouble erasing from the Castor vs Dyad war.
The latest episode called "Certain Agony of the Battlefield" saw the death of Paul Dierden (Dylan Bruce). He sacrificed himself to help Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) escape from Castor's military camp.
Paul is the first ever series regular that has been killed off in the show. Since he is a big character and his corpse was not really shown in the latest "Orphan Black" season 3 episode, some fans ask, is he really dead?
Series co-creator John Fawcett sat down with TV Line to talk about that latest twist and he said in jest, "I don't know."
"I don't know, man... [Laughs] He blew himself up. I think that's cool," Fawcett said in an interview held shortly after the latest "Orphan Black" season 3 episode.
"I like the fact that Paul is a character that we have not really been able to trust," he added.
"We never knew where we stood with him. Was he a good guy? Was he a bad guy? Why is he doing the things he's doing? And we've come through the last bunch of episodes to realize why he's making the decisions he's making. And, at the end of the day, he makes the right choice and heroically throws himself on the bomb. Literally. It was the way we wanted to see that character depart."
With these words from Fawcett, are you happy with the way Paul's storyline ended? Do you believe he is really dead?
The show will return next week for the episode called "Community of Dreadful Fear and Hate."
