A one-gallon jug of a rare McDonald's McJordan barbecue sauce has sold on eBay for almost $10,000 to a buyer in Chicago, according to The Bismarck Tribune.
Mort Bank sold the rare barbeque sauce named after Michael Jordan for $9,995. Bank used to own two McDonald's franchises but sold them in 2006 and decided to keep the sauce.
"It was in my basement and I would look at it occasionally," he told The Bismarck Tribune. "I thought it would be worth something someday."
The "unused, unopened, undamaged item" was billed as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own "the rarest of rare Michael Jordan and McDonald's collectible." The buyer was not named.
"I'm friends with other McDonald's owner/operators, and they just laugh when they find out I saved 1 gallon," Bank said. "They either ran out of the sauce or threw it away. So there wouldn't really be any reason for a person to save it. It had an expiration date on it anyway, which was December of 1992, so it would've expired."
Basketball legend Michael Jordan also had a McDonald's burger in 1992, which comprised of a quarter-pound beef patty, cheese, mustard, onions, bacon and, of course, barbecue sauce.
The sandwich was also sold elsewhere as the "Big 33" in honor of Jordan contemporary and fellow 1992 Olympic "Dream Team" member Larry Bird.
