Will ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Be About Fat Amy’s Back Story? Director Elizabeth Banks ‘Excited’ To Figure Third Film Out

| By

"Pitch Perfect 2" is still currently in cinemas but there are already talks of a possibly "Pitch Perfect 3" sometime in the future!

When asked about the possibility of directing another sequel after successfully releasing the second instalment of the acapella-themed movie, Elizabeth Banks admitted that they are still testing the waters for that project.

"I will say, it would be disingenuous to say that no one's talking about a 'Pitch Perfect 3'; the possibility of it," she reportedly told Collider in an interview earlier this week.

"We are really focused on getting as many butts in seats for this one. If fans embrace it, we are going to seriously think about what the continuing journey would look like, but we don't know what that is yet," she added.

The idea of a "Pitch Perfect 3" would definitely be interesting, given the attention that the second film recently gained. However, with the Barden Bellas (Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and so) already leaving college, Banks would have to think of a way to get around their absence.

Banks revealed that she already had a picture of what the second movie would look like which made it easier to put together on the screen. As for a possible third sequel, Banks admitted that she still doesn't know about that yet but she's "excited to delve in and figure it out."

According to Rebel Wilson, who played the hilarious Fat Amy in both first and second films, Banks could do a spinoff for her character's story instead.

"There was also my backstory in the first movie that never made it on screen," the 35-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly. "The reason that Amy came to Barden University in the first place was that she was on a football scholarship, like she could kick really well."
