Despite all the hype over the new "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie reboot, things have been really slow when it comes to its progress.
Following the exit of supposed director Roberto Orci from the project, nothing much has been made to the reboot's development.
Even the actors who are going to be included in the movie have yet to come out.
However, things may change following the report from The Wrap that Haim Sabam and Lionsgate have already seen a new director to helm "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot movie.
According to the publication "Project Almanac" director Dean Israelite is in talks to replace Orci in the directorial seat, and while nothing has been finalized yet this is a big leap for the film's development.
And in line with the new director, speculations now arise claiming that announcement of the new cast line up will happen soon.
"With an extensive and extremely devoted worldwide fan base as well as a deep and detailed mythology, the Power Rangers are primed for the big screen," the studio's official announcement said of the reboot.
Lionsgate is determined to bring "a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world."
Soon fans will know if previously rumored Hollywood stars including Taylor Lautner, Chloe Grace Moretz and Liam Hemsworth are all going to join "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie reboot.
If Sabam does consider, fans would also get to see original Green Ranger star Jason David Frank, who openly expressed his intentions to join, in the reboot.
"I wanna be in the real 'Power Ranger' movie," Frank admitted in his Facebook post when he responded to the fan-made short film made by Joseph Kahn and Adi Shankar. "You know what I mean? So Lionsgate let's get this stuff going on be in the real movie. I've saved my character for so long. And when I bring my character out in like in the movies or something linke that I want it to be legit. I want it to be a Saban blessing approved project."
While he did not say if he's interested to join "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie reboot, David Yost, who portrayed Billy Cranston aka Blue Ranger expressed his excitement for the upcoming project.
"They obviously have a proven track record. And I will be very excited to see what they do with the franchise," he said in an interview with Yahoo Movies.
Adding, "But obviously anyone who's stepping into the role of a Power Ranger - I just hope that they realize how exciting that is and the impact they will have on many people's lives throughout the world and do their best to portray a good superhero."
